Late Assignments Policy
I will accept late assignments until the end of each quarter for half-credit.
If the late assignment is a major paper or project, you have the potential to earn full credit if...
-you make time to meet with me to discuss why the assignment was late, and
-you did high-quality work on the assignment.
Students are allowed three days in general for every one day of excused absence* to make up assignments at no penalty. Anything turned in after the allowed make-up days will be considered late.
Please help me keep track of your excused absences by writing “excused” at the top of make-up work that is excused so I remember to reference attendance when I put in your grades.
In both excused and unexcused absences, it is the student’s responsibility to get all make-up work:
-Students may always ask a classmate for what they missed, or ask me before or after class or during AAT.
-I keep extra copies of all assignments and handouts in labeled baskets at the back of the classroom so that students may obtain make-up work. Downloadable files of the assignments and handouts will also be available on my classroom website (moorelangread.weebly.com).
-Students keep a planner and I keep the classroom website in an effort to help keep students and parents up to date with what goes on in class and when things are due.
As always, if you need any extra help or have any questions, Ms. Gordon is happy to set up a time to work with you individually! Please see her to make arrangements. ☺
No-Name Papers
If I find an assignment with no name, I will pin the assignment to the No-Name Board to be claimed.
If you claim a no-name paper, PUT YOUR NAME ON IT, and turn it in (again) to the appropriate class period tray for late credit.
If you do not claim your no-name paper, it will get taken off the board every Friday before I go home for the weekend and dumped into the recycle bin, resulting in a ZERO (missing) going in for your grade in the gradebook.
PLEASE, take pride and ownership of your learning and put your name on all assignments and handouts that are yours!
*Excused Absence: parent contacted school via note or phone call to main office about absence: appointments, illness, school-related activity, family vacation, etc. Anything else is considered an unexcused absence, and consequences will follow.
(For more information, see Attendance Policy in the Student Handbook in student planners or online on pages 17-18.)
